    This month we will explore different aspects of cultural diversity.  A number of ASHA resources have been developed to assist you in considering different variables in service delivery. From blogs to articles to videos, these resources can help you as you work with diverse populations. Let's begin with an overview of cultural competence. Take a look at these resources and consider what they may mean to you. Share your thoughts with your mentoring partner.     What is Cultural Competence?

    Cultural competence involves understanding and appropriately responding to the unique combination of cultural variables-including ability, age, beliefs, ethnicity, experience, gender, gender identity, linguistic background, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status-that the professional and client/patient bring to interactions.
