    Hello everyone!

I hope everyone is having a great week so far! Fall time usually brings cooler weather, autumn leaves, pumpkin-spice lattes, and... graduate school decisions! The application process for graduate school can often be a little stressful as you have to balance current class load in undergrad, while figuring out which schools are best for you, writing letters of intents, paying fees, and researching more about the universities you are interested in! As a graduate student, I am blessed to have the opportunity to help out my fellow undergraduate students who may need advice during this process.

My first tip of advice for graduate school searching is definitely search for universities and programs outside of your "comfort zone". You might want to stay close to home, but send in an application for a university that may be a little far away, but has amazing research or clinical opportunities. Try to explore different research programs or clinical opportunities, such as swallowing or voice labs, pediatric clinics, or university-supported community outreach.

Another tip for graduate school preparation is to always send in applications and fees early! Try to avoid sending in documentation at the last minute, as this procrastination may hinder your chances of getting into graduate school.

Also, apply to as many graduate schools as you can financially allow. The more applications you send in, the better your chances of getting into a graduate program. Also, do not be shy or modest in your application or resume, because this is your time to brag a little about the experiences you had in undergraduate, research assistant positions, or foreign language experience. Make sure not to rush writing your resume or letter of intent because good grammar and punctuation can make a difference!

Graduate students are your friends and we want to help you in the graduate school process in any way possible! Good luck with all of your future endeavors!
