At the 2024 ASHA Convention in Seattle, we asked exhibitors to share their thoughts on this question. Below are some of the responses. Do any of these resonate with you? We'd love to hear your feedback that could be a source of inspiration to others.

    • Never stop learning! Advocate for yourself!
    • Invest in the success of every person on the team.
    • Listen to how someone is feeling when in the exploratory phase.
    • Candidate experience is always key, whether they get the job or not because they can refer to others. It says a lot about an organization. Make every candidate feel valued, heard and appreciated. It sets the tone about how others see your organization.
    • Be kind, be transparent and honest.
    • Silence is okay. After asking a question, leave some room for silence.
    • Document well because your license is always on the line.
    • Always maintain professionalism! You never want to burn a bridge. The world of SLP is small.
    • Never stop learning. Take initiative. Don't wait for permission. Solve problems.
    • Seek understanding with the intent to make impact versus trying to solve the problem right away.
    • Audiologists: Stop focusing on the device. Focus on patient outcomes.
    • Learn to set boundaries and ask clearly and concisely for what you want.
