I'm happy this area was created. I was the head negotiator for our district teacher contract for 12 years. In addition, I was Vice President of our local, and a member of the PRR committee (chair in my building). I am a lifetime member of NEA Retired and CEA Retired (Connecticut) and am active in my stat association as a retiree.

Please familiarize yourselves with the things already IN your contract that will benefit you. I think you will be surprised if you do a deep dive.

In addition, I strongly believe being an active member of your local union or teachers association is very important. 

Re contract language…it needs to be strong language.
