Title: Clinical Education Coordinator
Duties and Responsibilities: This 12-month full-time clinical instructor serves as the Coordinator of Clinical Education for the Program in Communication Sciences and Disorders Program in the College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas. Responsibilities include coordination of the clinical education curriculum; management of the Speech and Hearing Clinic and graduate off-campus clinical placements; teaching clinical skills via a patient caseload in the Speech and Hearing Clinic, and teaching academic courses. The Clinical Education Coordinator will provide weekly group meetings to students enrolled in off-campus clinical education courses, maintain regular contact with off-campus supervisors, and additional follow-up for students as needed to meet clinical education needs. The Clinical Education Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing clinic operations including ensuring established policies and procedures are adhered to by students, faculty, and staff and managing budgets related to clinical education.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in speech-language pathology
- Certificate of clinical competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
- Eligibility for AR licensure
Preferred Qualification:
- Five years of clinical experience
- Experience with clinical education in a university or private clinic.
- Experience providing or coordinating undergraduate observation hours.
- Experience supervising graduate student clinicians
- Experience teaching at a higher education institution
- Additional certification areas or specialty recognition
About the Department, Program, and Research Resources:
The Department of Rehabilitation, Human Resources and Communication Disorders at the University of Arkansas comprises seven independent academic programs that offer 15 bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. We offer the majority of our programs in Fayetteville, although we have a large and growing online presence. The Communication Disorders Program offers both undergraduate and master's degrees. Existing research collaborations include the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Arkansas Children's Hospital, Mercy Hospital, the Northwest Medical System, and Washington Regional Medical Center, all located in Northwest Arkansas.
The Speech and Hearing Clinic in Epley Center is composed of clinic rooms and laboratories designed for both clinical services and clinically focused speech science research. The speech science laboratories consist of a KayPENTAX computerized speech lab 4,500 (CSL) and equipment for the measurement of breath support. In addition, the speech science laboratory has equipment for conducting voice and dysphagia evaluations including video stroboscopy and fibroendoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES). The Neurofeedback Laboratory in Epley Center includes: EEG, SCR, and EMG recording equipment; an electromagnetically shielded and sound attenuated booth, and equipment for recording and analyzing manual kinematics.
