    Goal Setting

Setting goals are one of the most valuable activities that you will undertake to achieve what you want in life.

What is a goal? According to Wikipedia, a goal is a desired result a person or a system envisions, plans and commits to achieve a personal or organizational desired end-point in some sort of assumed development. Many people endeavor to reach goals within a finite time by setting deadlines.

When setting goals, consider short-term (6 months or less to complete) and long-term goals (more than 6 months to complete).

Some of you may have already established your goals and others of you may be struggling to determine what your goals will be. It doesn't matter where you are on the spectrum, check out 5 Tips for Goal Setting Success.

    • Did you consider each of these tips when you developed your goals?
    • Do you need to go back and reconsider your goals based on these tips?
    • Did you use the Mentoring Action Plan as a guide to help you formulate your goals? Include short-term and long-term goals in your plan.

This is a good time for you and your mentor to review the goals that you have established to determine if your goals are achievable or should you reconsider developing them. What do you want to achieve and how will you achieve it?

    Good Luck!
