A: You can access the ASHA Community two ways from your mobile device. You can use the internet browser or you can use the ASHA Community Mobile App. To use the mobile app, just search "ASHA Community" in your mobile device's app store. Download the app then log in with your ASHA username and password.Q: Is there an option to subscribe to a weekly digest?
A: Not at this time. We double-checked with our community site vendor and they do not have plans for adding a weekly digest (even though we aren’t the only client that has asked about it). The logic behind that decision is that they want to avoid a scenario where messages get replies a week after they are posted. Their intent is for a more active discussion. We’ll need to see if things get too active for particular groups. If they do, we can look into splitting groups up into sub-groups.Q: How do I set my privacy settings?

Q. How do I propose setting up a new discussion group?
A: We welcome any suggestions for new discussion groups. Please email the ASHA Community team at email@example.com
. We do not allow members to automatically create their own discussion communities at this time. Rather, we want to make sure that enough members have interest in a specific topic before we start a new discussion. Q: How do I change my name or contact information?
We appreciate your interest in keeping your contact information with ASHA up-to-date. If you would like to update your email address, mailing address, or phone number, please use our special form for this purpose
If you need to update your name, please call the ASHA Action Center at 800-498-2071 (8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. EST, Monday–Friday) and they can assist you in getting that information up-to-date.Q: How do I change my Areas or Expertise, Primary Employment Facility, Primary Employment Function, and Private Practice information?
You can change this information by going to your profile in the ASHA Community. Just click the icon button
located to the right of each of these sections and select "update my...". This will take you to a page where you can update the information.Q: Why can't I see member e-mail addresses in the directory?
ASHA strengthened the privacy controls for the Membership Directory when we moved to the new ASHA Community platform. Since the ASHA Community allows members to contact each other directly on the platform, we have opted members out of displaying their e-mail addresses by default. Members may change that setting and include their e-mail addresses if they wish. Since making the changes, we have discovered that some members were using the old directory to gather e-mail lists for marketing or research purposes. Those activities were never condoned. ASHA provides faculty and NSSLHA students with a variety of options for gathering member data for research purposes. However, you may not include any information to the effect that your research project is under the sponsorship of ASHA. ASHA also provides a variety of options for companies to promote their products and services to our members.
Q. How do I get a Contributing Community Member, Star Community Member, Superstar Community Member, or Community Leader ribbon on my profile?
To get one of these "activity based" digital ribbons on your profile, all you need to do is get engaged in the ASHA Online Community. You can earn engagement points for a variety of activities on the ASHA Community, including: subscribing to eGroups, posting to eGroups, posting files to a Library, commenting on library items, joining communities, adding contacts, and more.
Q: How can I use email to participate in discussion threads in the ASHA Community?
A: Participation in the ASHA Community is restricted to ASHA and NSSLHA members, as well as International Affiliates and ASHA Associates.
- If you are subscribed to Real-Time emails (you receive a message each time someone posts or adds to a discussion) then all you have to do is click reply in your email and your reply message will automatically post in that particular discussion thread.
- If you are subscribed to Daily Digest emails (you receive one email per day from the discussion with a digest of the posts from the previous day) you will need to click the "Reply All Email" link that is to the right of each post in your daily digest. When you click that link, it will generate an email message with a special email address so your reply goes directly into that particular thread. Please see the screen shot below if you are unsure of where the link is located in your daily digests.
- You can also create a new post from your daily digest or real-time digest by clicking "Post New Message via Email" link that is located near the top of your subscription email just under the name of the discussion group. You can even attach documents!
