Dear colleague,
You are being asked to participate in a research study conducted by Kelly Rutherford, Ed.D., CCC-SLP, Jamie Maxwell, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, and Pam Holland, ABD, CCC-SLP, BCS-S. The purpose of this pilot study is to identify speech-language pathology current practice trends navigating the complex needs of children exposed to substances. As the substance use epidemic persists in this country, speech-language pathologists (SLP) in various settings (schools, early intervention, etc.) have noticed a direct impact on children they work with. Evidence shows that children with a history of substance exposure exhibit significant developmental differences such as speech, language, emotional, behavioral, and cognitive delays (Hall et al., 2019; Maxwell et al., 2022; Miller et al., 2020; Rutherford et al., 2022). A detailed description of this study is provided in the survey itself. If you have questions, please contact Dr. Kelly Rutherford (davis139@marshall.edu) or the Marshall University Office of Research Integrity at (304) 696-4303.
