Parkinson Voice Project is seeking a full-time Clinic Director at its headquarters in Richardson, Texas to lead and support a clinical team charged with the responsibility of preserving the speech and swallowing of individuals diagnosed with Parkinson's and related neurological disorders.
The ideal candidate will be a licensed, ASHA-certified speech-language pathologist with a minimum of 10 years clinical experience and a special interest in the principles of motor learning.
The future Clinic Director of Parkinson Voice Project will be a passionate servant leader, a positive role model, a mentor, a resourceful problem solver, and exhibit an abundance mentality.
We envision our future Clinic Director being an active leader in our clinic… smiling and interacting with patients and families while monitoring safety and discretely helping where needed… jumping in to assist a patient who might be carrying too many items or coming to the aid of another who is frozen at a doorway. This Clinic Director will know how to effectively cue and educate the patient, spouse, and staff. They will know when to make an appropriate referral to physical therapy, occupational therapy, or another healthcare provider.
Our future Clinic Director will lead our exceptional speech-language pathologists and medical office specialists to ensure new patients are timely scheduled for SPEAK OUT!® evaluations/treatment and current patients are assigned to weekly maintenance groups. All patients will receive regular re-evaluations and consistent follow-ups… whatever is needed to help them preserve their speaking abilities and minimize future swallowing complications.
Our future Clinic Director will be a mentor and positive role model for our staff. "Gratitude" will be one of their key values. Caring for individuals living with a chronic, degenerative condition is more than just a job… it's a ministry… and our future Clinic Director will be sensitive to this reality and will provide encouragement and support to our whole team.
Our future Clinic Director will identify which patients are struggling to follow through with their treatment plan and will understand the sensory deficit challenges that accompany Parkinson's. They will develop clever, positive ways to motivate, inspire, and encourage our patients without making them feel like "patients." They will educate spouses and family members who may be overwhelmed and do not understand how depleted levels of dopamine impact motivation and drive.
Our future Clinic Director will genuinely care about the well-being of every patient and will clearly demonstrate through deliberate, thoughtful actions that Parkinson Voice Project is with our patients for the long haul. They will go the extra mile to help and support our patients, whether it's by providing referrals, hopping on a Zoom call to educate their family, checking in on them with a simple phone call, or answering questions about swallowing disorders and cognitive challenges. The Clinic Director will be a resource for patients who are hospitalized and will go out of their way to attend funerals because that's just the kind of person they are.
In addition to the above, our future Clinic Director will be responsible for administrative duties such as updating clinical policies and paperwork and transitioning our clinic to an electronic scheduling and medical records system. Efficiency will be a priority. And even though our clinic doesn't bill insurance, our future Clinic Director will be knowledgeable about HIPAA compliance and privacy rules. They will anticipate problems, and whenever they don't know the solution, they are intuitive and resourceful and will figure it out. They meet all
deadlines and often complete projects ahead of schedule. They are eager to take on any challenge.
Our future Clinic Director recognizes that continually improving their clinical skills is crucial. They will spend 30% of their time evaluating and treating patients. They will regularly observe individual and group sessions. And they will continuously improve and expand their knowledge of motor speech disorders, mild cognitive impairment, and dysphagia. They will actively improve their business and leadership skills by studying Jim Collin's principles outlined in Good To Great and Beyond Entrepreneurship.
