Wow...great post! One of my favorite quotes that I draw on when I am facing (professional) adversity where I don't think I'll succeed. The quote came from on of my undergrad professors in ROTC who was an Army Pilot. I didn't know if I could do it or if I would be "good enough" to get in and be a pilot. He said, "Think about it....there have been thousands of aviators who went through flight school already. Are they any better than you? Are they smarter than you? If they did it then you can do it!"
That has stuck with me for almost 20 years now. I am going to be honest and vulnerable now.....but sometimes I go through some periods of "impostor syndrome." And I think back on what professor said, "If they did it...."
And a second quote, of sorts, that I'll share is not something that I would reflect on professionally, but personally. Friends (outside of work or fostering those true friendships that began at word) are extremely important to my overall well-being (there's a story behind the quote but I'll spare the details). But it comes from my favorite band, OAR, and their song "I Feel Home."
"There are few things pure in this world anymore, And home is one of the few.........
I feel home,
When I see the faces that remember my own.
I feel home,
When I'm chillin outside with the people I know.
I feel home,
And that's just what I feel.
Home is reality,
And all I need is something real."
